Wrapping, the new frontier of decoration

Wrapping is the complete or partial decoration of a vehicle or bodywork, generally applied to cars, buses or subway carriages. It can be achieved simply by painting the surface of the vehicle, but the current standard involves the application of vinyl coating films, suitable for long-lasting applications. This technique represents the new frontier in the world of industrial vehicles, in this case of agricultural mechanization, thus enabling the customization of a machine or a “special series”, as in the case of Mascar’s Monster round baler presented at EIMA International 2016. The challenge launched by the Vicenza company was accepted by Serigrafia 76, with the collaboration of Optima, a company owned by Serigrafia 76 and specializing in the field of advertising graphics and in particular the design and construction of decorations for cars, shop windows and special projects. The success of Mascar’s personalized round baler was immediate, so much so that a feasibility study was started to extend the decoration project, initially designed for one machine, to a production of 50 round bales. In practice, from the single specimen to the production of a small series. “Usually our graphics,” says Elisa Mammi, Sales and Marketing Manager of Serigraph 76, “are usually quite simple and straightforward, so that the staff tasked with applying them at our customers’ facilities are able to apply them directly during assembly, without any difficulty or loss of time. In the case of Mascar, we are talking about large complex graphic designs, covering most of the side covers of the round baler, so the application is very complex, taking time, great experience and manual skill. From the operational point of view, the covers are brought to Optima, where they are decorated using the wrapping technique, thanks to the appropriate equipment and trained personnel. The aesthetic result is greatly impactful.”
