Avocitrus, CIMA's sprayer for citrus and avocado groves
Citrus and avocado plantations have seen significant growth globally in recent years, with great expansion in South Africa and Latin America. Countries like Mexico, Peru and Brazil have become leaders in the production and distribution of these fruits, supplying the main world markets. The expansion of these crops, with ever-larger plantations, has brought new challenges for local farmers who must manage increasingly larger orchards, requiring large-scale treatments and requiring speed and efficiency. Citrus and avocado trees are tall and spaced very far apart (from 6 to 10 meters between rows), making treatment difficult. With this in mind, CIMA, a company from Montù Beccaria (Pavia) that specializes in the manufacture of crop protection equipment, is offering the market a new solution specifically for the protection of citrus fruits and avocados. Avocitrus – the name of the equipment – combines the Blitz 55 pneumatic low-volume trailed sprayer with the Avocitrus distribution head, from which it takes its name. This configuration generates a powerful airflow capable of penetrating even the densest vegetation and reaching the internal areas of the plant, thereby ensuring optimal of the entire canopy. Maximum efficiency – says the Lombard-based company – is ensured by the CIMA low volume system which reduces the amount of water needed to carry out the treatment and, in combination with targeted distribution, reduces working times and optimizes the use of pesticides. Moreover, with tanks of up to 3,000 liters, the Blitz 55 model is particularly suitable for large cultivated areas, and ensures autonomy and uninterrupted productivity.
