New multipurpose arm for the FAE PT300 D:MINE
New features are coming for the PT300 D:MINE remote-controlled tracked vehicle, specifically created by the Trentino company FAE for mine clearance activities. This model is particularly suited to the disposal of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and features a multipurpose arm that can be equipped with a manipulator grapple or a digging bucket. When configured with the telescopic arm and equipped with the manipulator grapple, the PT300 D:MINE demining vehicle is able to survey the intervention area through a camera system specifically designed for this type of use. The manipulator grapple also allows for the safe movement of objects “armed” with IEDs or the devices themselves. When equipped with the digging bucket, the front arm makes it possible to inspect the ground and reach the unexploded device by digging deep. With the digging bucket it is also possible to create a containment area in the ground in which to deposit the explosive device for subsequent detonation. The new multipurpose arm – as stated in a technical note from the manufacturer headquarted in Fondo – presents innovative features such as the rotation system, by means of which the arm can perform not only the frontal and lateral movements typical of an excavator, but can also rotate the digging bucket or the manipulator grapple on its own axis, improving the precision of actions. The camera system, composed of fixed or motorized units with zoom function, provides the remotely-connected operator with a global vision of the environment in which he is operating and a precise vision of the tool's activity. Two independent hydraulically-controlled stabilizing feet optimize the stability of the vehicle-implement combination in the various applications for which it is used.
