At EIMA International 2014 the spotlights will be focused on the continuously variable transmissions of Faresin Industries' VPS and VPSe telescopic handlers. Designed specifically for the agriculture-zootechnical sector, the Variable Power System (VPS), with its continuously variable transmission (from 0 to 40 km/h), optimizes energy management according to the functions used when operating the machine in different phases, resulting in much faster and more fluid movements. The VPSe version transmission is equipped with an electronic traction control system, which interacts with the Tier 3B/4i electronic injection (common rail) motor to give the operator the greatest power and speed possible for different uses. To make manoeuvring even more smooth, flexible and precise, Faresin Industries has equipped the VPSe transmission with a hydraulic system that uses a variable displacement pump and a load-sensing controller. Hydraulics is also the reason the team from Vicenza has managed to improve the performance of its lifts, reducing both fuel consumption - the oil flow is automatically adjusted to the different operational requirements of the vehicle - and component wear. Another advantage offered by the continuously variable transmissions is the ergonomics of the controls. The controls are placed on the dashboard in a position that allows the user to instantly select the different driving modes, from Drive (for movement) to Handling (for greater thrust on the grab), to Creeper (for equipment like sweepers
