Technologically advanced, yet functional and user friendly, is how one might describe McCormick's new X6 Series and X6 VT-Drive mid-range tractors that replace the older X60 Series. The X6 Series comes in two models (X6.420 and X6.430), and is powered by a BetaPower Fuel Efficiency engine that meets Tier 4 Interim emission standards and uses the Power Plus system, which delivers more than 133 horsepower and comes with an updated (from the X6 Series) 3-stage powershift transmission with 36+12 gears, optional creeper transmission and electro-hydraulic adjustment of the power shuttle according to load inertia. The X6's new transmission also stands out for its optimized braking system (which uses a piston ring system), the synchronized 4-speed electro-hydraulic PTO, rear lift capacity of 5,400 kg and the improved open-centre hydraulic circuit (66 l/min for systems and 32 l/min for steering) that also has an optional closed-centre version with a 110 l/min flow rate to three or five distributors. The X6 Series is also available with optional cab suspension and a rigid front axle or, upon request, independent suspension arms. As for the driver's seat, the cab has been redesigned to give the operator the same comfort, silence and visibility offered by the higher range products. The X6 VT-Drive version on the other hand includes the main technical features of the X6 Series but also comes with a latest generation continuously variable transmission; thanks to this solution, the X6 VT-Drive model benefits from a further increase in power that allows the unboosted version to reach 133 Hp and the Power Plus version as much as 143 Hp. The gear controls are operated by means of a multi-function armrest with joystick speed adjustment. This type of solution – explains the manufacturer – makes using the tractor very comfortable in all applications, from heavy duty use in the open field or for purely farm-related tasks or even public works.
