November 2017 | Back

In addition to the famous DragoGT and Drago2 maize heads, the Agritechnica Olimac stand features Dragon Gold, the new sunflower- sorghum head designed by the Piedmontese company to bring together power, sturdiness and quality of work. The head comes with a number of cutting-edge design solutions, starting from the oversized augers. It is one of the largest in its class, allowing an increase in the machine’s advancing speed, reducing product leakage and possible seizure damage. In short, thanks to the oversized auger, protected by an innovative safety clutch, the operator can use the combine harvester at full-throttle even while harvesting dry product. The performance is also enhanced by the adjustable attachments (designed by Olimac) designed to maintain an ideal work setup regardless of the height of the combine wheels. The cutting system, on the other hand, is made up of two counterposed tempered steel plates that cut the plant without shaking it, thus increasing the operating speed and minimizing the vibration (and thus the loss of seeds). Upon request, there is also a built-in rotary stalk crusher, designed to always maintain the same position while the machine body can be lowered or raised depending on the harvesting needs. The various innovative solutions of the Drago Gold head include two clutches on each row group, preventing overloads on the transmission and protecting the elements, and special harvesting chains. Equipped with rubber teeth, the chains gently block the stem of the plant and transport it to the conveyor auger for processing with the utmost gentleness. Lastly, the external oil bath transmission does not require re-lubrication and is therefore maintenance-free (in addition to not being exposed to impurities and foreign bodies). The Drago Gold sunflowersorghum head, produced at the Olimac plant in Margarita (CN), is marketed in 6, 8, 12, 16 row versions and can be applied to any type and brand of combine harvester.
