Olimac, innovative solutions for corn harvesting

At EIMA, Olimac will be presenting the DragoGT and Drago2 corn headers and the latest addition, DragoGold, winner of the EIMA International 20-21 Technical Innovation Award for its innovative hydraulic stalk chopper. All the mechanical components of the Drago header are manufactured in the Margarita (Cuneo) plant, where the processing phases are automated with robotic systems that check the quality of the products.

DragoGT and Drago2 are equipped with cob plates with automatic adjustment. Unlike normal corn headers, where the opening of the plates is adjusted manually, Drago adapts automatically and continuously to the different sizes of the stalks, collecting all the product without loss of cobs and kernels. In addition, DragoGT is equipped not only with cushioned cob plates that cushion the impact of the cobs, preventing them from bouncing out, but also with a double "Scissor Effect" cob chopper: the stalks are chopped deeper and - continues Olimac - with a much finer shredding compared to all other cob choppers. The latest addition to the range, the Drago Gold sunflower header, is equipped with a hydraulic stalk chopper that cuts the stalks at ground level and at the same time allows the sunflower to be harvested up to a height of 1.5 metres, so that only the head without the stalk is obtained. Thanks to this technological solution, the combine works faster, the crop is harvested without losses and chopping is optimal. The new DragoGold also harvests hemp and sorghum and will be available on the market from 2022.

All header systems manufactured by Olimac are patented. “We design and build exclusively corn and sunflower headers," said Olimac owner Lorenzo Carboni, commenting on the new Drago Gold header, "to develop them we invest in innovative technology and create exclusive production solutions, often covered by patents.
