Dragone, the safe mechanical weeding

Dragone's mechanical weeder CR16 is designed for row crops, i.e. vineyards, orchards and hazelnut groves where, in addition to the need for optimal weed control without damaging the plants, there are also problems with working in difficult conditions, for example on steep cross slopes.

The machine operates with a rotor equipped with 8, 10 or 12 sets of two independently extendable wires and consists of a rotor equipped with separately extendable wires combined with a casing. In addition to being the contact element between the machine and the plant, the casing also serves to give the wires the correct trajectory for optimum weed cutting without damaging the bark. A dynamic positioning system of the cutting unit, on the other hand, allows a positive or negative thrust to be given to the rotor so as to touch the plant with the right gentleness; all controls are executed by means of electro-valves controlled by the operator via a joystick.

The CR16 can be mounted on an independent frame with 3-point hitch to the tractor or combined with the mulcher to perform both under-row and mid-row cutting. The rotor is driven by an independent hydraulic power pack. Innovative aspects of the machine include the patented adjustment system for moving the cutting body, which allows for very precise adjustment, the special geometry of the upper casing, which also acts as a wire guide, the patented system for unwinding the wires, which allows only one wire to be lengthened at a time while maintaining the length of the others, and finally the large capacity of the wire reels and the ergonomic control box, which makes all adjustment operations precise and easy to set.
