Haymaking, Kuhn expands its range

Haymaking remains one of the strategic sectors for Kuhn. In this scenario, the French company presents the GMD 9530 RV disc mower with an auger grouper system, capable of mowing and forming the swaths in a single pass, without a conditioning system. The equipment, intended for tractors of at least 200 hp, has a working width of between 9.1 and 9.5 meters in combination with a front unit, and is designed for large farms and contractors. It features grouping augers and cutting bars, driven separately by a universal joint and gears, and is secured by an automatic cam clutch and shear bolts. The GMD 9530 RV mower is equipped with Hardox components which, Kuhn points out, reduce maintenance operations to a minimum, ensuring longer service life. The cutting unit staggering system allows the swath width to be varied from 1.5 to 2 meters depending on the forage. The hydraulic lifting of the windrower auger hoods ensures wide, flat depositing on one or both sides. The GMD 9530 RV mower is equipped with the Optidisc Elite cutter bar featuring the Fast-Fit quick-fit knife system. Suspension adjustment provided by the oleo-pneumatic accumulators ensures adaptation to the terrain and the ground pressure can be adjusted according to the conditions of the plot. The Lift-Control system combines this hydraulic suspension adjustment with a non-stop safety device. In case of an obstacle, the cutting unit pivots backwards, with additional suspension that makes it easier to overcome. Once the obstacle has been cleared, the mower automatically returns to the working position.

At Agritechnica, in addition to mowers, Kuhn is debuting its range of belt mergers, which has evolved into the Merge Maxx 102 series, with five models. The Merge Maxx 442 F front-mounted equipment has a collection width of 3 meters and a double belt system that allows the same amount of forage to be deposited on both sides. The four trailed models (Merge Maxx 762, 952 standard and with Isobus, 1092 with Isobus) have working widths ranging from 5.50 to 10.95 meters. In the models with Isobus, all the machine settings can be controlled directly from the cab and it is possible to manage a wide range of functions, including the type of swath placement, the working height, the unit suspension, and the position of the Winguard roller.

Designed to work with various types of forage, on different types of terrain and with different harvesting methods, the Merge Maxx 102 ISOBUS mergers make it possible to adjust the Windguard roller and transfer plate, adjust the ground pressure based on five configurations, adjust the speed of the pick-up and conveyors, adjust the working height and the “pick-up without swathing” function, which allows you to temporarily suspend the operation of the conveyors to load the forage and move it to a more favorable area. Kuhn points out how the Merge Maxx 102 series belt mergers are equipped with reinforced components: the tubular supporting structure of the collection units has been revamped, with a larger diameter and significant work has been done on the pick-up, a key element and the part most exposed to wear of the belt mergers. Pick-up now features a Hardox-coated cam; extended crank tine arms to reduce stress and strain; soil, water, and sand-resistant tine arm bearing; cranked tines with increased stress resistance; and Winguard transfer plate made of high-strength (HLE) steel. The tine arms are equipped with bearings with plastic wear components, highly resistant to deterioration. Kuhn indicates that this increases the lifespan. When replacing them, there is no need to dismantle the tine arms or the tines themselves and the components can be changed in less than a minute.
