The John Deere Select Series X300 rider lawn tractors will be replaced in 2016 by the updated Select X350, X354, X370, X380 and X350R models maintaining design similar to their predecessors but introducing a number of important improvements. Among them is the AccelDeep™ mower deck from 107 cm, 42 in, to 122 cm, 48 in, such optional equipment as the MulchControl™ for precision mulching, greater versatility and a rear discharge X350R model with a mower deck of 107 cm, 42 in, tried and tested for durability and coping with obstacles and clogging in any operating conditions and given upgrades for the transmission, air flow, resistance and reliability. The entire X300 Series is equipped with an updated instrument panel with a feedback display for the operator and more user-friendly controls.  These changes on the controls also involved ergonomic improvements. The new PTO control, for example, allows the operator to reach down to a T handle to lower rpm and control of the reverse option is now through the use of a device, the RIO, operated by a separate yellow button. Also the operation of the CruiseControl has been changed, moved from a rocker arm to an automobile-type button.Special care has been taken for the design of the instrument display which now looks more like an automobile dashboard. The display is now back lit to ensure visibility in operations in the dark and is fitted with an electronic fuel gauge, a tachometer for reading rpm and special graphics informing the operator on the range of use for optimizing the quality of the cut.

On the mechanical side, the improvements brought in for the new models were focused on the transmissions and the mower deck, now with lowered tension to reduce the load on the engine, and deck bearings designed to prevent breakage and oil loss. Moreover, the X350 and X354 models mount the K46 HST transmission which is now equipped with a bolted input belt for greater durability of the input drive shaft.
