A high profile at Agritechnica for the “Kohler Flex”, the range of emissions filtration solutions that Kohler has designed to allow every KDI engine configuration to comply with the anti-pollution standards and regulations in force in the various national markets. The core of Kohler Flex is the clean combustion of the KDI motors, which, with a view to Stage V, can adopt a compact and state-of-the-art particulate filter (DPF). The technology offered by the American brand uses the internal combustion system of the KDI engines (common rail injection at a pressure of 2000 bar, four valves per cylinder, turbo-compressor and cooled-EGR) - already very efficient in terms of emissions - integrating it with the most compact post-treatment devices (DOC, DPF, SCR). The regeneration system, explains the manufacturer in a technical note, has been designed to optimize machine operation, even at low loads and low temperatures, thus preventing stoppages caused by forced regeneration. Kohler offers two versions of DPF on its engines. The first, according to company information, reaches a maximum maintenance interval of 10,000 hours, while the second is more compact and provides a maintenance interval of 6,000 hours. The post-treatment system can be pre-assembled on the engine or separated, and thanks to the 360° axial and radial rotation of the sleeves, it guarantees the highest level of adaptability for every application. In addition to meeting Stage V regulations, Kohler engines are optimized thanks to increased load response and specific performance. For applications requiring simple and compact solutions, the new KDI version without Charge Air Cooling (CAC) offers a competitive solution that guarantees the torque and power required and at the same time reduces the size of the machine. Inspired by all in one constructive principles, the Kohler Flex engines are versatile and flexible, since they can be installed without too many modifications also in pre-existing engine compartments, and can be combined in ways to achieve effective filtering solutions in the various key markets.
