Carraro Agritalia based in Rovigo inaugurated the Oscar Carraro Tractor Museum last May 22nd to open an exhibition space dedicated to the origins of the Veneto Group’s industrial activity up to the present day. The new museum was planned to recount the evolution of agricultural machines beginning in the 1900s through an exhibit of a series of models that could change over time and lead to establishing the company as a global benchmark in agricultural mechanization. The most significant stages in the history of the company are marked by Oscar Carraro. Following in the footsteps of their father, Giovanni, he and his brother Mario ushered in the arrival of the first agricultural tractor under the brand name Tre Cavallini (Three Ponies) in 1960. Among the machinery items in the museum are the semi-automatic C18 from 1957, the first Carraro vehicle which looked like a modern tractor, the 1959 C23 model, a 1964 230 model tractor, a track tractor model 555 from 1969 and a 354 model tractor dated 1974. The inauguration was also an occasion for updating the news on today’s Carraro Agritalia. Over the years, the Rovigo plant, in fact, achieved the Carraro standing as an international recognized center of excellence through the design and manufacturer of specialist tractors mainly for vineyards and orchards. In 2011 Rovigo headquarters set up a project for the total renewal of the manufacturing process to bring in lean production through what was named APS, the Agritalia Production System. By 2012, the plant had won ISO14001 certification to become a point of reference for production capacity with respect for the environment. In 2012, Agritalia was awarded an OHSAS 18001:2007 certification for having reached a level of excellence of management for safeguarding the health of workers and safety in the place of work. Furthermore, market data has confirmed the great growth of the group: the Veneto manufacturer reported that turnover in the first quarter of 2015 had reached a record of € 33.6 million on sales of 1,225 tractor for a surge of 74.2% over the same period in 2014 when turnover came to € 19.3 million on sales of 730 tractors.
