R640 Shredder, a high-performance machine

The R640 model is a shredder designed by the Mantua company Negri (the headquarters are in Campitello Marcaria) to process large amounts of vegetable waste, wet or dry. This machine is designed to meet the needs of municipalities and farm contractors, and its main strengths include ease of loading by using mechanical pincers and a high hourly yield. The cutting system - as explained in the Lombardy company catalogue - consists of a rotor with mobile reversible hammers; the rotor, with the aid of a hydraulic driving roller and a steel hydraulic conveyor belt, is able to work with different types of pruning under a maximum diameter of 20 centimetres. The R640 shredder is also equipped with a “Nostress” device, a system that prevents any overload situations for the motor and which allows you to dose in the most appropriate way the insertion of plant material into the loading mouth. The commands for managing the shredder can be controlled either through a control unit located on board the machine, or through a remote control supplied to the user. Negri offers two versions of the R640 model: one equipped with a diesel engine and carriage with two axes (approved on the road at 80 km/h), the other powered by the tractor and equipped with a one-axis carriage approved for slow road towing. Both are equipped with a parking and service braking system, and are fitted with a safety system that complies with European standards. The mass of the diesel shredder is 3500 kg. This means that the application can also be towed by vehicles whose mass, fully loaded, is less than or equal to 3500 kg (like, for example, the Iveco Daily and Mercedes Sprinter). Towing the machine therefore does not require heavy vehicles, i.e. those that require a “C” driver’s licence.
