The domestic market for gardening and lawn care machinery and equipment closed the first half of the year with a +0.4% increase, thus confirming the sales volumes reported for the same period in 2024. This is what data processed by the Comagarden association of gardening technology manufacturers and the Morgan survey group indicate, showing a diversified trend for the different product types. Lawnmowers, pruners, and chainsaws closed the half-year with declines of 6.7%, 10.8%, and 16.7%, respectively, while gas-powered brush cutters and line trimmers increased by 5.4% and 2.2%. Sales of leaf blowers (+13.4%) and hedge trimmers (+12.5%) also showed growth. The sector's performance in this first part of the year was affected by several supply chain issues that, according to reports from several market players, prevented companies from fully meeting market demands. According to Comagarden, the trend of the first half of the year should also continue in the rest of the year, with a 2025 final balance estimated on the order of over 1.3 million units sold (the same volume as 2024).

Against this backdrop, the eighth edition of Agrilevante, the exhibition of technologies for Mediterranean agriculture, represents an important opportunity to review short- and medium-term market trends, not only for the domestic Italian market but also for international markets. The lawn and garden machinery and equipment sector is growing globally, driven - Comagarden says - by the emergence of healthier lifestyles, increased contact with nature and greenery, and more recreational activities, such as urban gardening. This growth has also been fueled by the boom in new Middle Eastern markets, such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, which are placing significant emphasis on urban greenery as a key component of innovative urban planning projects. The Levante Green showcase is dedicated specifically to the gardening machinery and equipment sector, representing one of the most significant innovations at the upcoming Agrilevante event. The Showcase, hosted at Pavilion 20 on a surface area of more than 2,200 square meters, will offer a qualified focus on solutions for greenery maintenance, particularly for sports areas (football fields, golf courses, multipurpose facilities) and tourist green spaces (villages, resorts, accommodation facilities). The showcase features over 70 exhibiting companies and is designed for a broad audience of buyers, industry professionals, public bodies, and landscaping professionals. FederUnacoma, the agricultural machinery manufacturers' association and the direct organizer of the Mediterranean event, explains that meetings and workshops offering in-depth technical information are designed with these professionals in mind. The display of green technologies continues outside Pavilion 20 in the 900 square meter demo area, where visitors can see some of the models on display at the show in action, experiencing their technical characteristics and operational features firsthand. The demo area is divided into four different thematic sectors – says the Federation – each of which is distinguished by a particular layout and the use of a specific type of mechanical equipment. The sports turf sector tests machines such as scarifiers, lawnmowers, and tractors used for the maintenance of sports fields, such as soccer fields or golf courses. In the tourism green sector, the spotlight is on loaders and tool carriers, which are widely used for maintaining the outdoor spaces of hotels, resorts, and farmhouses. Meanwhile, the area dedicated to gardening robots features autonomous machines (such as lawnmowers and grass cutters) that are becoming increasingly popular for hobbyist and professional use. Of a more playful nature is the space called “Score goals with the blowers,” where visitors can challenge each other on a small playing field by “kicking” the ball not with their feet but with a blower's jet of air.
