Agricultural machinery manufacturers will meet in Zaragoza (Spain) from 13 to 17 February for the 60th edition of FIMA, the first major international trade fair of 2024 dedicated to agricultural technologies. With less than a month to go before the turnstiles open, the organizers' predictions are optimistic. 1,300 exhibiting industries from 38 countries are expected at the Zaragoza exhibition centre, occupying an exhibition area of more than 100 thousand square metres. Obviously, the focus of the event is on the presentation of the latest technologies and state-of-the-art systems developed by agro-mechanical companies to increase productivity and at the same time improve the sustainability of agricultural processing. But FIMA also offers an important opportunity for professionals, economic operators and experts in the sector to discuss the main issues affecting agricultural and primary machinery. And it is precisely to encourage and nurture this comparison that the organizers of the Aragonese event have developed a rich calendar of thematic meetings and have provided a multidisciplinary space dedicated to innovation and open to the participation of universities, training centres, associations and start-ups. Among the numerous thematic insights, the focus is on agriculture 4.0 and 5.0, sowing, training, but also research projects and sustainability. In particular, the spotlight will be on the 9th Forum dedicated to Rural Development, which will address issues related to innovation in the agri-food sector, on knowledge systems (AKIS), and on the VitiGeoss conference, which opens a window on the latest generation technologies for vineyards. The prestigious awards of the "Concurso de Novedades Técnicas" and the "Premio Exelencia", now in its fifth edition, have also been confirmed. The latter, in particular, is reserved for those farms that contribute to technological development in agriculture through the creation of new business models and the use of innovative resources and tools. FIMA 2024 also opens a window on the future, giving space to young farmers and agro-influencers, with events designed specifically for them.
