An agricultural machinery event in Spain
Technology, operators and young technicians were at the center of FIMA 2026, the Spanish event that brings together companies and organizations from the Iberian and global agricultural machinery sector at the Feria de Zaragoza every two years
Inaugurated by King Felipe VI of Spain, the 44th edition of FIMA, the International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition, was held in Zaragoza from February 10th to 14th. Hosted at the city's exhibition center on a surface area of over 88,000 square meters, the event welcomed over 1,200 brands, presented by 638 exhibitors from 35 countries, and recorded an attendance of 188,000 visitors, a 12.5% increase compared to the previous edition.
Two key innovations were presented this year: the FIMA Tech space, a hub where innovation, technology, and business come together, featuring startups, universities, research centers, and leading companies in the sector; and FIMA Conecta Talento, an initiative dedicated to companies, professionals, and young people interested in developing their careers in the primary sector.
Alongside of the event a series of B2B meetings between exhibiting companies and international delegations from around the world were organized in collaboration with ICEX, the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade, from February 9th to 11th. The Zaragoza Fair also directly organized buyer missions from Colombia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Morocco, Tunisia, Greece, and Romania.
Technical innovation awards were presented at a special event on the evening of February 11th. The competition recognizes solutions that represent significant progress in terms of production efficiency, resource optimization, digitalization, and environmental protection. There were six “Technical Innovation” awards and three “Exceptional Technical Innovation” awards, the latter going to the Variosmart System by Kuhn Ibérica, the GS Seeder seeder by Maquinaria Agrícola Solà, SL, and the DualCleaning-600-H by ITM Filters. The FIMA Excellence 2026 Award, now in its fifth year, was also presented on the same evening. This award recognizes organizations that combine innovation, sustainability, and social commitment. The award was presented to Centro Especial de Empleo Gardeniers, a leading company in organic farming and social inclusion.
There were also numerous meetings and days dedicated to the most important topics in the sector. In particular, this year, on February 14th, FIMA hosted Family Day - dedicated to family-run businesses, generational change, and social values linked to the rural world. The event attracted a large audience and included, among other activities, a meeting on the theme "History, Challenges, and Prospects of Rural Women" to highlight the role of women in the development of the primary sector, and an agricultural-themed play area reserved for children.
FederUnacoma was also present at the FIMA event with an institutional space, and held a press conference on February 10th to present the next edition of EIMA to Spanish journalists and business people.
The meeting also provided an overview of the agricultural machinery scenario, which saw global tractor sales decline by 8% annually in 2023 and 2024, with a decrease also expected for 2025. However, Spain bucked the trend, reporting growth of 14% in 2024 and 26.7% in 2025. Last year, Spain reported imports of agricultural machinery and equipment worth EUR 1.9 billion, an 11% increase over 2024, confirming the expansion of domestic demand, which is expected to continue in the medium term. According to forecasts by the research firm ExportPlanning, in the four-year period 2026-2029, imports of agricultural machinery into Spain are expected to grow by an average of 1.3% per year, with Germany (26% share of total imports), France (15.1%) and Italy (13.8%) as the top three suppliers.
