Strategy and innovation mark the beginning of 2026 for FPT, the Iveco Group brand dedicated to the design, production and sale of propulsion systems and solutions for on-road and off-road, marine and power generation applications. Looking ahead, FPT confirms its roadmap towards sustainability, contributing to the objectives of Iveco Group, which is based on achieving three ambitious goals: 100% of the electricity used coming from renewable sources by 2026 and halving CO₂ emissions (compared to 2019 levels) by 2030. The two latest innovations from the Turin-based manufacturer fit into this scenario: the F28 engine in the Hybrid version and the new battery pack concept, FPT Forma.

Let's take a look at them in order. The F28 is a versatile solution that combines space efficiency and performance with a compact design that doesn't compromise on power. Modularity characterizes every component of the engine, which comes in different versions powered by diesel or natural gas, and is also designed for hybrid applications. The F28 is designed for telescopic handlers, compact, specialized and utility tractors, as well as for machines used for fruit harvesting. In 2026, the new high-voltage series hybrid configuration is introduced to the market, designed to ensure superior performance thanks to a 700-volt system that increases power density and flexibility. In detail, the F28's Ice engine (internal combustion) is equipped with four cylinders in line with a displacement of 2.8 liters, maximum power of 75 kW at 2300 rpm and maximum torque of 415 Nm at 1600 rpm, the low voltage P1 hybrid has a voltage of 48 V and a maximum continuous power of 20 kW, while the high voltage version reaches 700 V of voltage and a maximum continuous power of 75 kW.

The second innovation proposed by the Iveco Group brand is FPT Forma, a new product concept designed to redefine battery pack solutions across all segments. Forma is an acronym for Future-ready, Open-ended, Reconfigurable, Modular, Adaptable, all features included in the product which, according to FPT, represents a particularly innovative approach to battery design, capable of adapting to practically any configuration. The concept marks a key step in the brand's battery storage strategy, developed as a cross-segment initiative and also ideal for off-road applications. FPT Forma's modular architecture is designed to offer multi-level scalability: each layer functions as an independent battery module, allowing capacity and performance to be adapted simply by adding or removing modules. This approach ensures significant flexibility within a unified central design.

At the heart of FPT Forma lies its modular versatility, which allows for the simple integration of different module types without being tied to a single internal architecture or specific cell chemistry.

The group considers FPT Forma a real game changer in the off-road segment, with particular attention to optimizing weight distribution and improving stability and maneuverability on the most challenging terrain.
