Bruce Springsteen will certainly not be offended. Nor will he remind Valtra that there is only one "Boss". And so the Finnish brand can emphasise time and again that it has dubbed its latest high-horsepower offering "The Boss". With a range of 240 to 420 Hp, the new sixth-generation S Series tractors, manufactured entirely in Suolahti, Finland, are Valtra's largest and most powerful tractors with high torque at low engine speeds. Powered by an 8.4 l Agco Power and with a CVT transmission, they offer a 5 per cent reduction in revs and up to 10 per cent lower fuel consumption than the previous model, according to the Finnish brand. The sixth-generation S Series emphasises comfort, visibility and smart technology with new design, improved access, a spacious new cab and more lights (all LED). The factory-fitted TwinTrac reverse-drive system and SmartTouch user interface have always been popular features with S Series drivers. The new S Series brings with it several upgrades, including a range of front axle and cab suspension options. In addition, S Series models can also be equipped with Valtra's Skyview cab option and Valtra Unlimited customisations. The design of the new tractors is inspired by that of the fifth generation of Valtra, with some notable changes. The sleek sloping bonnet offers greater visibility to the front, while the fully integrated headlamp cluster - comprising LED low beam/ dipped beam, LED daytime running lights and close-range LED work lights at the front - is an asoslutely new feature. The S Series offers several advanced technologies, starting with the SmartTurn automatic headland turn with four turning patterns (partial field mode, U-turn, Y-turn and K-turn) that allow the driver to work in the field in the most efficient way. The Finnish manufacturer points out that the brand's offerings for precision farming already meet most customer requirements and the SmartTouch user interface makes smart farming technology objectively simple, but emphasises that the near future (for the S Series we are talking about early 2025) will bring the innovative Tractor Implement Management (TIM) based on the integrated Isobus. It is also worth mentioning that the renewable diesel compatible S Series has the ambition of being one of the most sustainable ranges on the market. Two-thirds of the components come from Finland and the factory runs on 100 per cent renewable energy. Customisation remains one of the cornerstones of Valtra's strategy. With Valtra's Unlimited proposal, the Finnish company can offer exactly what every farm needs to run its farming operations more efficiently, more ergonomically and with greater safety. A proposal that will be available for all sixth-generation S models. The new tractors are equipped with Unlimited's central lubrication system (CLS) and a state-of-the-art audio system (including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), plus the View camera system with high-definition display and advanced learning algorithms to automatically detect objects moving in front of the tractor and alert the driver for increased safety in the field and on the road. Production of the S Series, which will make its debut at Agritechnica, will start in the second quarter of 2024, with the first deliveries in Europe scheduled for the summer. Deliveries to regions with less regulated emission standards, such as South America, are planned from the second half of 2024.
