InStart is the new starting system for Briggs & Stratton engines. The 775iS DOV® model is equipped with this ignition system which came away from the recent EIMA International 2014 exposition last November with a Technical Innovation Honorable Mention award. With the launch of the DOV, the patented direct overhead valve train design back in 2006, Briggs & Stratton displayed the manufacturer’s commitment to practicality for the end-user in starting the engine. DOV technology in combination with ReadyStart marked a step ahead in user-friendly design given recognition with various awards. The InStart is an electric starter fitted with a new generation lithium-ion battery mounted directly on the engine. The batter can be recharged in ten minutes to start the engine ten times or take a full recharge in one hour for 50 starts. Once the battery is put in place, the mower engine can be started by using a safety lever, button or key. The lithium-ion technology means that starting is simple, immediate and can be repeated as necessary with no need for repeated recharges following use. Thanks to the choice of the safety lever, button or ignition key, InStart ensures easy starting and eliminates the need to perform this operation with the traditional rip cord.

The Briggs & Stratton 775iS DOV engines combine the power and other features of gasoline engines with the facilitated starting of electric mowers. The ReadyStart™ pack, moreover, reduces the risk of flooding the engine and fouling the starter spark plug and eliminates the manual priming of the carburetor and working the air control level before starting the engine.
