Agricultural trade fairs in Italy continue to be important occasions to an exchange of information and updating for both professional and amateur farmers and give a wide audience the chance to visit places rich of art and history, with great traditions of wine and food. The 36th edition of the Savigliano trade fair of the agricultural mechanization, scheduled in the province of Cuneo from 16 to 19 of March, is the first of a series of exhibitions held in spring, a season traditionally dedicated to this type of events. Hosted in the exhibition centre of Borgo Marene, the event – arrived at its 35th edition – displays on a surface of 46,000 square meters a wide range of processing machines and agricultural equipment for all types of soil: plain, hill and slope. The region of Piedmont, that hosts the event and from which comes the majority of visitors, had in 2016 a sales increase of agricultural machinery against the overall national trend, with a number of registrations (figures by FederUnacoma) increased by 9.7% for tractors (with 2,401 new vehicles), 23.2% for combine harvesters (85), 18.1% for tractors with loading platform (1,182), 3.7% for trailers (324), with telescopic loaders passed in one year from 115 registrations in 2015 to 323 of last year, recording a three-figure growth rate (+181%). In an area characterized by excellence in agriculture, figures seem to confirm the attention to innovation promoted for many years by the Savigliano technical innovation contest – organized by CNR-Imamoter – the award cerimony of which will be held on the event’s inaugural day (Thursday, March 16). The exhibition will be completed by the Ecotech section, dedicated to renewable energies, energy efficiency and ecofriendly solutions, and by the Agrimedia area dedicated to thematic meetings of this sector.
